What do you teach at Brooksfield School?
I teach in one of the primary classrooms, ages 3 through 6.
What do you love about Brooksfield/ Why do you like teaching at Brooksfield?
I love the warm and positive feel at Brooksfield. There are always lots of smiles and hugs at Brooksfield. It’s a great way to start your day! I also love the sense of community and the personal relationships staff, parents and children form with each other.
What motivated you to become a teacher at Brooksfield?
Brooksfield is where I began my Montessori journey. I was an assistant in the primary classroom before becoming a lead teacher. Brooksfield and the Montessori education appealed to me for its ability to embrace children and provide a safe and stimulating environment that responds to their individual needs throughout each stage of development.
What sets Brooksfield a part from other Montessori schools?
Brooksfield is very Montessori focused in that there are activities in the classroom that promote the development of social skills, emotional growth, and physical coordination as well as cognitive preparation. What sets Brooksfield apart is their focus on the arts and nature. They provide a range of classes such as dance, music, art, movement, gardening, cooking, and Spanish. These extra classes give the children opportunities to express themselves and learn through experiences and self-discovery.
What is a unique experience, talent, or interest you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?
I have been competing in triathlons for the last 8 years. I like to instill in my students the importance to taking care of your body, being active, enjoying the outdoors and having fun!
What do you want your students to gain from having known you?
I want them to really love learning and know how special they are.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself? Perhaps a fun fact?
I am a new mommy!
