How do I talk to my child about the virus?
It’s important to keep a close watch on your child’s emotional state during turbulent times. They pick up on everything, so they know you’re under stress and their routine has been disrupted. We teach our students to monitor their emotions by assigning them colors and numbers, for type and intensity. Identification of feelings helps a lot in processing. Ask them what color they’re feeling if they seem worried.
Openly discuss the situation with them. They’ll know if you’re avoiding the subject, and you might worry them even more.
And last, take care of yourself. Your child sees what you’re feeling, and if you don’t take care of your own emotional state, you will transmit it to them.
Will you still have summer camp?
We are currently planning on holding summer camp, but we will follow government directives when the time comes. Please check back here for updates.
