What do you love about Brooksfield/ Why do you like teaching at Brooksfield?
Brooksfield has a peaceful and stimulating environment that supports both teaching and learning in a positive manner.
What motivated you to become a teacher at Brooksfield?
I wanted to be part of a school that valued creativity and discovery. At Brooksfield I am able to create lessons that encourage interactions among kids. We explore language through songs, movement, and play. This makes class always engaging and fun.
What sets Brooksfield apart from other Montessori schools?
The Montessori philosophy is embedded in every aspect of Brooksfield's environment. Each child is seen as a unique individual and education is personalized. Students truly thrive in such a welcoming environment. The sense of community gives Brooksfield a 'home-like' feeling, which is hard to find in other schools.
What is a unique experience, talent, or interest you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?
We sing a lot in our class. Every lesson includes a song related to our topic. This allows me to introduce new vocabulary. This is also the number one thing that Brooksfield parents tell me when I meet them, because their kids sing the songs they learned in class at home. I also create materials that support our lessons and help differentiate language levels.
What do you want your students to gain from having known you?
My goal is for each child at Brooksfield who graduates to leave with some knowledge of the Spanish language, and a pleasant memory of the Spanish culture. Whether it is a song, a story, or a game, I hope they will always remember something they enjoyed from our class.
